Lycopodium Limited, a leading Australian engineering and construction firm, has secured a N$464 million (A$40 million) contract to spearhead the development of one of Namibia’s most promising gold ventures, the Twin Hills Gold Project in the Erongo Region.
Awarded by Osino Gold Exploration and Mining, the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) contract places Lycopodium at the forefront of designing, managing, and delivering a state-of-the-art five million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) Carbon-in-Leach (CIL) gold processing plant.
The facility will also include critical infrastructure such as a three-stage crushing and screening circuit, milling, gravity recovery, carbon elution, and a cyanide detoxification tailings system.
Lycopodium’s Managing Director and CEO, Peter De Leo, announced that work has already commenced, with the first gold pour expected in the first quarter of 2027. Construction is set to begin in late 2025 and will span approximately two years.
“We’re pleased to be partnering with Osino to deliver this project. It is near the producing Navachab and Otjikoto gold mines, with Lycopodium involved in both of these projects,” De Leo said. “This award further supports our future earnings. We have extensive expertise specific to the development of gold mines in this region and look forward to leveraging this experience, working alongside Osino in the successful delivery of Twin Hills.”
Located 150 kilometres northwest of Windhoek and just 20 kilometres outside Karibib, Twin Hills lies in the heart of the mineral-rich Damara Orogenic Belt. The project spans over 153,000 hectares across 11 exclusive prospecting licences, making it a significant footprint in the country’s gold exploration landscape.
The upcoming Twin Hills mine is set to become one of Namibia’s largest gold producers, strengthening the country’s mining sector and attracting foreign investment.
Lycopodium’s collaboration with Osino dates back several years, having guided the project through key technical milestones, including the Preliminary Economic Assessment (2021), the Pre-Feasibility Study (2022), and the Definitive Feasibility Study (2023).
