In a bold move to position Egypt as a premier destination for healthcare travelers, the Egyptian Cabinet has approved the establishment of the National Medical Tourism Council, signaling a significant leap toward boosting the nation’s medical tourism sector.

Chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development, the newly formed council will regulate and enhance the quality of medical tourism services across the country. Its mission: to transform Egypt into a global magnet for patients seeking world-class healthcare, wellness retreats, and advanced medical procedures all under the sun-soaked skies of the Nile Valley.

The council has been vested with sweeping powers, including the authority to issue binding decisions and spearhead the creation and implementation of a National Strategy for Medical Tourism. This strategy will be continuously updated to reflect global best practices and evolving international trends.

To ensure accountability and progress, the council will meet at least once every three months or more frequently if needed upon the chairperson’s invitation. If the Prime Minister joins any session, they will take the lead in presiding over the meeting. Additionally, the chairperson is required to submit quarterly reports to the Prime Minister outlining achievements, challenges, timelines, and proposed solutions.

With rich cultural heritage, advanced medical expertise, and competitive pricing, Egypt is positioning itself to rival leading medical tourism destinations worldwide.
