In a bold leap toward a high-tech future, Egypt officially opened the permanent headquarters of the African Space Agency (AfSA) on Sunday, setting the stage for a new chapter in Africa’s journey to the stars.

The inauguration, led by Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, was hailed as a “paradigm shift” in empowering the continent through space science and innovation. The new headquarters, located in Cairo, positions Egypt at the epicenter of Africa’s growing space aspirations and strengthens pan-African cooperation in space technology and exploration.

Founded in 2016 under the African Union, AfSA aims to unify African countries in the pursuit of space science, missions, and policy. From food security and disease prevention to environmental monitoring and precision agriculture, the agency is poised to leverage space-derived intelligence to address Africa’s developmental priorities.
