Liberia is on the brink of a transformative milestone as it prepares to launch its first-ever palm oil refinery in November 2025, a bold step that promises to reshape its agricultural sector, create jobs, and empower local communities.

The state-of-the-art facility, spearheaded by Mano Manufacturing Company, will process locally grown crude palm oil into refined cooking oil and other products. This marks a strategic shift from raw exports to local value addition, reducing reliance on imported refined oils and energizing the domestic economy.

More than just a business venture, the refinery is set to spark widespread economic benefits. It is projected to generate hundreds of jobs across the manufacturing, transportation, and distribution sectors. Smallholder farmers, especially in regions like Bomi and Grand Cape Mount, will be integrated into a fair and reliable supply chain. This opportunity promises more stable incomes and improved livelihoods.

Mano Manufacturing is also investing in Liberia’s future workforce. Training programs aimed at young people will equip them with factory operations, logistics, and quality control skills, offering a direct response to the country’s pressing youth unemployment crisis.

The refinery’s impact isn’t limited to the economy. Mano Manufacturing has committed to meeting global environmental standards, including those outlined by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil. The company will operate under a No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation policy, ensuring that economic growth does not come at the cost of the environment.

With locally made cooking oil set to hit the market, Liberians will soon enjoy access to high-quality products made on their soil. More importantly, this initiative positions Liberia not just as a palm oil producer but as a competitive player in the global agricultural market, one that puts people, planet, and progress at the center of development.
