LIBYA LAUNCHES FIRST-EVER MODERN CROSS-BORDER BUS SERVICE TO BOOST REGIONAL CONNECTIVITY
Operated by Al-Mada and Al-Sahm, the initial rollout promises passengers a safe, streamlined, and comfortable journey with direct routes and minimal delays.
Libya officially launched a new international bus service connection
In a bold step towards modernizing its land transport system, Libya has officially launched a new international bus service connecting the country to its Neighbours, marking a significant milestone in regional mobility and cooperation.
The Government of National Unity (GNU), through its Ministries of Interior and Transportation, announced the launch of this cross-border initiative aimed at transforming how Libyans travel beyond their borders. Operated by Al-Mada and Al-Sahm, the initial rollout promises passengers a safe, streamlined, and comfortable journey with direct routes and minimal delays.
Unlike traditional border travel, the new service will feature fast-track lanes at crossings particularly at the Ras Ajdir checkpoint significantly cutting down waiting times. Simplified procedures for departure and return, along with passenger facilities at every leg of the journey, are part of the government’s effort to make cross-border movement efficient and stress-free.
A high-level coordination meeting involving key government bodies border security, customs, and passport authorities was recently held at Ras Ajdir. Officials say a final technical meeting scheduled for Monday will confirm the launch date of the first trips.
The project is part of a broader national strategy to enhance public transport, reduce reliance on private cars, and encourage regional connectivity through collective travel solutions.
