In a groundbreaking move that redefines airport convenience in Morocco, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and Al Barid Bank have launched a seamless contactless payment system at Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport, a first of its kind in the country.

The new service, powered by the Barid Payment Mobile app and Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, enables passengers to make quick and secure payments by simply tapping their bank card or smartphone. Whether purchasing seat upgrades, accessing business lounges, or opting into RAM’s premium “Loft” service, travelers can now complete transactions effortlessly at three new digital service counters strategically located at check-in, transit, and boarding points.

More than 24 specially trained agents are on-site to support passengers using the service, which is designed to enhance comfort and reduce wait times. This initiative reflects RAM’s broader ambition to digitize and personalize every stage of the passenger journey from ticket booking to baggage claim.

“It’s part of a 12-month digital overhaul that puts our customers first, starting the moment they arrive at the airport,” Hamid Addou, CEO of Royal Air Maroc.

Al Amine Nejjar, Chairman of Al Barid Bank, echoed the sentiment: “This partnership signals a new era in traveler services combining innovation with reliability to make flying more accessible and efficient.”

Royal Air Maroc has announced plans to expand the service to Paris-Orly Airport shortly, reinforcing its strategy of digital innovation and international alignment.

The RAM–Al Barid Bank collaboration marks a pivotal step in Morocco’s journey toward smarter, tech-enabled travel infrastructure, setting a new standard for airports across the continent.
