Candice Chirwa, the trailblazing Founder and Director of Qrate, is reshaping the narrative around menstruation in Africa. As a fierce advocate for menstrual education and dignity, Candice has dedicated her career to breaking down the silence and stigma surrounding periods, an issue that continues to marginalize millions of girls and women across Africa.

Through Qrate, a youth-led nonprofit based in South Africa, Candice has developed engaging and age-appropriate educational workshops that empower young people with knowledge about their bodies, rights, and hygiene. Her work not only addresses period poverty but also opens up crucial conversations about gender equity, reproductive health, and social justice.

Widely recognized as the “Minister of Menstruation,” Candice has become a powerful voice in both grassroots communities and global policy circles. Her advocacy has influenced school curricula, inspired government engagement, and helped shift public perception on a deeply personal issue.

Chirwa's focus is to enhance critical thinking skills essential for young people through the promotion of "Eduliftment," a tool to help young people apply critical thinking skills to understand their circumstances and explore options open to them through educational content.

Candice Chirwa’s leadership is proof that education can be revolutionary, and that by giving young people the tools to understand and celebrate their bodies, we can build a more inclusive, informed, and empowered future.
